Letter to Congress...

I am a woman of 26 years who supports the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution, i.e. the right of every citizen to bear arms. I urge you to keep government control out of the lawful activities of gun manufacturers and buyers (including every other industry).

The fact that guns exist and can be bought being used to explain why high-schoolers are shooting other students is not a reality-based argument. The reason why teen-age students are killing is that they were taught via progressive education that they SHOULD act on their emotions, and that reason, long-term thinking, and rational self-interest are impractical.  In other words,. the most important goal in life is to belong to the group (no matter what the cost), and not to be a rational individual.

I urge you to question why 1) these shootings are ONLY happening in the schools (not in the home or in private areas), and 2) why it is that the killers have no semblance of self-worth or desire to live. If you are honest in answering these questions you will find that the availability of guns is irrelevant to this problem--desperate teen-agers will find other ways to kill.

President Clinton wants to prevent law-abiding citizens from buying guns, because his opinion of us is that of helpless, mindless people who are unable to think and choose for themselves. Therefore, the government should FORCE its way in and take over our INDIVIDUAL RIGHT to choose and act. This was not the opinion of Thomas Jefferson, and if he were alive today, he would be the first to condemn Clinton as a traitor to this country--a traitor to limited government, to individual rights, to property rights, to keeping the property and money you earn, and to the right to buy guns and protect yourself from killers, burglars, or the anti-freedom laws of an unprincipled government, i.e. ours.

Preventative laws will never work. If you, sir, want to stop the various immoral and irrational tragedies that are happening everywhere, you must understand that the PHILOSOPHY of our public schools and our culture as such must be changed to embrace REASON, RATIONAL SELF-INTEREST, and INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS through education. I suggest that you start learning about these ideas by reading ATLAS SHRUGGED by AYN RAND.
