Letter to the Editor,

Today in the socialist utopia of Germany, where gun control is absolute, a student killed 18 people at his school in Erfurt.

I live in Germany and was able to see the accounts of this event as they transpired on television. The German media was quick to point out the similarities between this atrocity and the Columbine High shooting.

They went so far as to show free Americans buying guns with their children followed with archived clips of the events at Columbine implying that the two must somehow be related. But how do they explain that these same events have now occurred in their own country where guns are strictly outlawed? How is it that a citizen of Germany was able to obtain a gun?

Once again, we are able to see that where guns are outlawed, only the bad guys will have them. Whether it is in public schools (where teachers should be allowed to carry), the workplace, or countries such as Germany, honest citizens fall victim to crime because they are unable to defend themselves.

I wonder how the media in The United States will present and/or slant the circumstances surrounding this event.

Sincerely,
Eric J. Lakits
