STOP the in Dearborn’s High Schools Should graduation be based on academic merit or on how many
bedpans a student empties? The Dearborn Board of Education believes that
community service is more important than a student’s academic
standing. They have
proposed community service as a mandatory requirement for graduation
regardless of a student’s merit. This proposal would involve not allowing a student to
graduate if the student does not complete hours of forced work.
A student would have no choice except to either submit or drop
out of school. This proposal is immoral. No one has the right to force any action on students,
parents, or teachers. Nor
does anyone have the right to force students to accept the morality of
sacrifice -- for the same reason that the government cannot force
religion on students. Parents who support this proposal would also support
forcing other parents to accept that their children be forced into this
form of slavery. Speak out at the April 14th Dearborn Board of Education meeting at 730pm located at the Ten Eyck building, 18700 Audette Road, in Dearborn near Pelham and Outer Drive. The superintendent’s office phone number is (313) 730-0224. Call (313) 730-0224 now and speak out against this injustice before it is too late! |
